New days offer new starts. Every day has an opportunity for you to change your mindset, change your attitude, or change your hair. Someone once told me that you are your own advocate. This means, if you want something done... do it. Take charge of the things that are making you unhappy and bring in the new. Change what you can, accept the things you cannot change, and learn the difference. The beauty of a new day is a completely clean slate. It really does not matter who you are or where you've been, other than what life has made you. Just take what you have and be the change you are waiting for. Don't wait for perfect conditions to do so or it will never happen. Take a breath, step back, and go for it. Bring in the new.

Saturday Mornings

One of my favorite days are Saturday mornings. Sleeping in (although it's rarely past 9am), eating cereal and drinking coffee while just lounging around watching Saturday morning tv. Don't get me wrong, I love busy Saturday mornings where I get up early and run or go to the farmer's market or am out of town, especially in the summer. But there's just something about having the whole day ahead of you with absolutely no plans and just taking my time being leisurely. I hope this weekend takes it's time and I can remember to enjoy every minute of it along the way!

Take the Time

As summer is drawing to an end and school is right around the corner, the days are getting shorter and the air a little cooler. Actually for August it's surprisingly cooler than usual, which makes me think even more than summer is slowly drawing to an end. I found this time fitting for my first blog post as I'm sitting here questioning where the days of summer have gone. It seemed to come on before I even knew it with the hopes and plans of long days and fun adventures. Somehow along the way, I didn't take the time to actually relish the season I was living in and it seemed to slip right through my fingers. My plan for this blog is to take the time to slow down and really capture the moments I am living. Take the time to actually reflect on the wonderful things in my life and bring full joy out of them by sharing my thoughts.

This is my very first blog so I'm guessing it will be an array of random thoughts, scatterbrained ideas, and sometimes my own deep moments. I'll try to share my joys and loves with whoever it is that wants to read about them. For now, I'm taking the time to feel the warm sunshine on my face, the soft breeze against my skin, and the smell of sagebrush as my feet walk along the dirt paths on my evening hikes. This seems to be the theme my short summer has taken on and I am finally slowing down to savor every last minute of it before it fades away into crisp autumn days (which I also LOVE). But for now, I'm juuuust fine with the long warm days and nights of summer.
